This isn’t just a job, it’s a chance to engineer smarter solutions, drive industrial innovation and make a lasting impact.Primary ResponsibilitiesHDR is seeking a Wildlife Ecologist to support environmental field programs throughout Canada. This unique opportunity combines field planning, conducting field surveys and completing reporting in support of projects in our Resources, Water and Transportation market sectors. The successful candidate will work on multidisciplinary projects to address current and future challenges and will work in close coordination with project team members and subject matter experts that will foster learning and skill development across multiple disciplines and project types.Primary responsibilities of the successful candidate include planning and conducting a wildlife surveys utilizing a variety of survey methods, training and coordination of Indigenous observers, preparing technical reports for clients and regulators and performing other project-related duties as needed.The role of Senior Wildlife Ecologist is a casual, temporary, as-needed position. There will not be a set schedule but will be notified when we have work available.Preferred Qualifications  20+ years experience in design, plan and execute wildlife surveysExperience with distance sampling analysisExperience with wildlife remote trackingStrong understanding of provincial/territorial and federal regulatory requirements and processesExperience with training and leading Indigenous monitoring crewsAbility to prepare technical reports including data analysis and interpretationExperience working in remote locationsExperience working directly with clients, stakeholders and regulators is considered an assetExperience managing field crews of 3+ members is strongly preferredWillingness to work on extended field programs is highly desirable.Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Biology or closely related field A minimum of 15 years related experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Highly motivated self-starter Leadership skills and ability to manage in a team environment Excellent communication skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustWhat We BelieveHDR is our company.
