Position DescriptionThe Financial Advisor provides exceptional customer service to current and potential members by offering a full range of deposit/investments and complex lending services. This role identifies member life stage cycle and provides solutions to financial needs, and/or refers member to an appropriate advisor. The Financial Advisor manages a portfolio of members. AccountabilitiesMember Service: Builds strong relationships with current and potential members; identifies member life stage cycle and provides financial advice to members or refers to appropriate advisor.Member Transactions: Processes a full range of complex member transactions including, but not limited to personal loans, retail mortgages and RRSP loans; investment products (typically under $100K in investible assets); opening personal or business accounts, debit/credit cards, LOC/overdraft protection, and related insurance products.Branch Goals: Supports achievement of annual branch goals and objectives through proactive promotion of FW products and services, participation in branch campaigns, and actively seeks potential cross-sell and/or referral opportunities during interaction with members or potential members. Achieves established annual sales and referral targets.Branch Support: Performs a variety of administrative duties which may include, but not limited to: administration of estates, completion of loan applications, conducting credit investigations, and follow-up phone calls to members, as required.Other duties as required by branch leadership. Utilizes the Day in the Life as a guideline to prioritize and manage schedules - to align efforts in reaching goals while offering a remarkable, consistent member experience across First West. Branch Differentiation: Based on the needs of the members and individual circumstances, the following may apply:Lending limits will be assigned in consultation with credit services, based on experience and competencyIn pilot locations, a key accountability is to build/maintain a strong presence and relationship in the community People/Thought LeadershipNo direct supervisory responsibilityProvides functional/technical guidance or advice to other employees as requiredQualificationsCollege or Tech School Diploma (2 years) in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience requiredMutual Funds License required; PFP is an assetMust complete the internal First West certification program specific to this role within the required timeframe2 years in a Member Advisor role, or equivalentCompetenciesDemonstrated ability to identify needs and recommend products and services to membersSelf-starter with ability to work independently and solve problems using common sense and sound judgmentProven ability to plan, organize and prioritize workloadSkills Proficient in computer software . Microsoft Office and banking software programsTravelOvernight travel may be occasionally required, up to 6 times per yearRisk ManagementDisplays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
