This focus allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from conceptual engineering through to construction completion.To support a strong pipeline of secured and potential Transmission projects across North America (including significant ECI & EPC projects) we are currently seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Transmission Line Design Engineer to join our Mississauga, Calgary, and Winnipeg engineering teams. We offer a dynamic work environment with an extremely experienced technical team, where you will be fully involved in all aspects of the engineering and design process. As a condition of employment, successful applicants agrees to undergo a Backcheck screening, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check.Job Description:Contribute to the design and engineering execution of transmission projects.The ideal candidate for this position will possess a strong background and keen interest in the area of Power/Transmission Lines, be a team player and communicate well. The successful candidate will be expected to perform conceptual engineering design, analysis, and calculations for proposed projects and at times, help support other junior members of the team. The Intermediate Engineer may also be responsible for smaller sized projects or portions of a large project.Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:Assist in the design of overhead and underground power delivery systems ranging from 4kV to 500kV by creating detailed scopes and estimates, performing calculations, developing design drawings following applicable utility, national or international standards and codes.Interact with internal / external contacts as necessary for design details.Support Professional Engineers with detailed technical studies and/or calculations; preparation of cost estimates; the creation of equipment specifications and installation standards; requests for quotation; evaluation of new equipmentDevelop material and construction specifications.Provide procurement support, material take-offs, requisitions, and technical evaluationsDevelop overhead and underground structures and equipment structure spotting. Design and evaluate various electrical equipment components.Aid in the preparation of design packages for client reviews and construction.Escalate design issues to Professional Engineers for review and directionWork closely with other discipline teams within PHASOR (Civil, Stations, Survey etc.)Perform calculations related to the design of overhead and underground systems.Review of designs to ensure accuracy, perform quality control and quality checks prior to project release.Support project co-ordination documentation and activities.Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals.Carry out site visits with Professional Engineers to support engineering and constructionQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering. Currently Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or be working towards itMinimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience. Ideally a majority of that experience within Canada.Experience in the PLS software suiteProficiency in AutoCAD is an assetFamiliarity with relevant industry standards (CSA, IEEE etc.) Valid Class 5 Driver’s LicenseExperience in performing electrical studies such as EMF, Corona losses, grounding design, lightning performance etc. is an assetProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word and ExcelExperience in construction and/or construction support is an assetPhasor Engineering Inc. offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, hybrid working and excellent opportunities for growth and advancement.
