DUTIES

The University and Employment Preparation Department at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a sessional lecturer to teach the following course in Winter 2025: MATH 0600 (Provincial Pre-Calculus 1)

Course description: Students develop math skills that prepare them for further studies in calculus. Topics include a review of advanced algebra, an introduction to functions, and a study of linear, quadratic, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Together with MATH 0610: Provincial Pre-Calculus 2, this course fulfills the ABE Provincial Level (Grade 12 equivalency) requirements.
•    Master's degree in a relevant field required

QUALIFICATIONS


•    Master's degree in a relevant field required

•    At least one degree in Math required

•    Teaching Certificate or Instructor's Diploma or 5 years teaching experience required

•    Experience teaching students whose educational, social and economic backgrounds are diverse, and for whom previous school experience may have been challenging required

•    Demonstrated evidence of scholarly teaching required

•    Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in ABE science courses preferred

•    Skills in building intercultural understanding, empathy and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) preferred

•    Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) preferred

•    Teaching excellence including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) preferred
