Occupational Hygienist

You as an Occupational Hygienist will: Support the development, review, and implementation of project-specific Infection Prevention and Control Plans aligned with CSA Z317.13 requirements. Review Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRAs) and conduct Preventive Measure Analysis (PMA) in accordance with CSA Z317.13. Perform routine on-site inspections and audits of construction and renovation areas Verify implementation of infection control measures, including dust control, barriers, traffic flow, and housekeeping. Confirm proper operation of engineering controls (e.g., negative air machines, HEPA filtration). Identify, document, and follow up on IPC deficiencies or breaches related to construction activities. Participate in project planning to identify IPC risks prior to construction start. Review work plans to ensure appropriate infection control measures are in place. Coordinate and verify final construction clean, terminal cleaning, barrier removal, and readiness for occupancy. Confirm IPC requirements are met before areas are returned to clinical use. Complete inspection reports, risk assessments, and compliance documentation. Communicate IPC expectations to contractors, Facilities, and project teams. Is this the right role for you? Diploma or degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related healthcare field. Experience in Infection Prevention and Control within a healthcare environment. Working knowledge of CSA Z317.13. Ability to work safely in active construction environments. Strong observational, documentation, and communication skills. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or eligibility to obtain. Experience working with healthcare construction, renovation, or facilities teams. Knowledge of HVAC systems, airflow, and pressure relationships.
