The Community Relations Advisor will support the achievement of Brock’s strategic priorities for community engagement and tracking progress, and its commitment to being an open, welcoming, and accessible resource to the community. TheCommunity Relations Advisorwill:Identify, organize, and coordinate engagement opportunities and support the proactive management of relationships with internal stakeholders and community partners; Exercisejudgement and initiative in developing communications and research materials to advance Memorandums of Understanding, projects, proposals, and initiatives; Ensure thetimelyandaccuratedistribution of communications and research materials to relevant internal and external stakeholders through various communications mediums including public facing websites; Liaise between the Community Relations team, and other staff and faculty across the institution, coordinating community engagement deliverables,expeditingworkflowand managing deadlines; Attend,participatein, and report back on community events and meetings;Lead and advise on the organization of events, campus visits, and meeting logistics including (, coordinating participant attendance/presence, event set up and tear down, booking venues, catering, guest speakers, agendas, audio-visual and equipment arrangements, printing materials, scheduling meetings, meeting summaries, other related tasks, etc.); Prepare briefing materials to support executive level attendance at events, visits, and meetings, asappropriate;Manage the maintenance of the Community Engagement website; Develop regular e-newsletters and manage distribution to internal and external stakeholders; Collaborate with internal teams to craft and share compelling stories that highlight community engagement initiatives, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging across all platforms; Exercise judgement and initiative in managing general community inquiries to the University related to partnerships and community engagement issues, and escalate to the Associate Director asappropriate; Support the Associate Director, Community Relations by advising on the prioritization of meeting requests, and where possible, refers to other knowledgeable staff for action of next steps. KeySkills andExperience:AUniversitydegree in a related field and/ordiscipline; Valid Class Gdriverswithan acceptable drivers abstract and a reliable vehicle; Experience in community relations, communications, stakeholder relations, or asimilarfield. Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education,trainingand experience; Interpersonal, diplomacy, and oral/written communication skills tofacilitatecommunicationswith internal and external stakeholders; Understanding of customer service techniques and tactics; Organizational, research, planning, and project management skills; Understanding of the University sector, community leaders, and the Niagara region; Understanding of Brock’s strategic priorities for community engagement and the role/importance of community engagement; Understanding of the impact of communications on the organization and the importance of positive public opinion for and positive public interactions with the University; Direct experience in written communications needed to create, revise, update and enhance communications and community engagement documents and related materials; Sound knowledge of communication techniques and software applications(, Microsoft Office
