Your Opportunity Stantec is looking to strengthen our Thunder Bay office by adding an experienced environmental practitioner who can bring senior-level expertise and leadership to the team. This role is all about impact, driving client relationships, guiding proposals and pursuits, providing technical direction on projects, and mentoring our talented local staff. You will collaborate with our established and growing team of practitioners in Thunder Bay, supported by a robust network of technical leaders across Ontario and the country. Your leadership expertise may be in one or more of the following technical areas: Environmental planning and permitting Ecology Hydrogeology Environmental site investigation and remediation Environmental risk assessment If you are passionate about driving meaningful solutions to environmental challenges for your clients and have a proven track record in any of these areas, we would love to hear from you. Your Key Responsibilities As a senior environmental practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic growth and operational excellence. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Strategic Business Development: Champion a culture of business development by cultivating existing client relationships to identify new relationships to expand Stantec’s market presence. Client Engagement: Represent Stantec at key client meetings and within professional and industrial organizations to enhance visibility and influence. Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison among internal teams, clients, regulatory bodies, and the public to ensure clear, consistent and effective communication. Strategic Collaboration: Work with Key Account Managers and Sector Leaders to align growth strategies, strategic initiatives and elevate client service and delivery. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Ontario and Canada to deliver integrated and innovated solutions. Technical Leadership: Lead the preparation of technical proposals and project deliverables across sectors such as mining, infrastructure, forestry, oil and gas and industrial development. Team Development: Mentor and support staff through coaching and training, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance. Your Capabilities and Credentials Client Relationship Management: Skilled in engaging with clients and stakeholders at all levels, including regulatory agencies and the public. Communication & Representation: Comfortable representing the organization in client meetings and industry forums. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with internal leaders and other service lines. Technical Expertise: Strong background in environmental services across sectors such as mining, infrastructure, and industrial development. Proposal & Project Delivery: Demonstrated success in leading technical proposals and delivering high-quality project outcomes. Leadership & Mentorship: Experience guiding multidisciplinary teams, fostering professional growth, and enhancing team performance. Strategic Business Development: Proven ability to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities and client relationships. Safety Champion: Proven experience promoting a strong health and safety culture. Education and Experience Educational Background: Degree and/or post-graduate college diploma in Environmental Planning, Environmental Studies, Civil/Environmental/Geological/Chemical Engineering or related field (Master’s degree an additional asset). Professional Designation: Preferred - P.Eng., P.Geo., membership in Ontario Professional Planners Institute, OAIA or ECO Canada EP designation as relevant to technical area of expertise. Experience Level: 10+ years in environmental consulting or a related field, with client, project and/or staff leadership experience. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
