The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.Job SummaryWe are seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, the Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for providing repairs, overhauls and new builds to mining related equipment. This position will employ reasoning in diagnosing and troubleshooting functions.Key ResponsibilitiesPerforming assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs and complete overhauls on heavy mining equipment according to schedule.Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.Make recommendations regarding extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement. Mentor apprentices.Interpret work order and technical manuals. Two weeks' OEM onsite training supplied. Complete job specific reports and paperwork.Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety and follow all rules and legislation.Keep a mine-owned service truck clean and equipped.Job ConditionsExperience with Komatsu, CAT, Epiroc equipment is an asset.Experience in repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Willing to adapt and work in an inclusive work environment.Willing to perform repetitive tasks.Comfortable working at heights.Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.Able to lift up to 50 lbs.Remote location working environment.Mining company/mine site experience is an asset.This position is based in Geraldton, Ontario.CertificationsRed Seal Journeyperson certification.Valid driver's license.Education Greenstone Mine provides company transportation from multiple pick-up point locations.Greenstone Gold Mines is committed to inclusiveness, equity, and accessibility.
