TITLE: Systems Engineer DEPARTMENT: TS Operations REPORTING TO: Branch Operations Manager OFFICE LOCATION: Toronto, CA ROLE TYPE: In-office/On-Site, Full-time Overview of the Team  As part of the Operations team, you will work directly with your Systems Engineer peers, Project Managers, Customer Success Managers, Account Managers, and report to the Branch Operations Manager, Canada. Role Overview: You will provide core installation services and front-line technical support for IPC’s advanced server/network & cloud-based communication products in a fast-paced and demanding environment servicing the financial community. A flexible work schedule is a requirement, including some travel, an on-call schedule, and a commitment to working some nights and weekends to meet our customers’ needs. Customer site visits and dispatches are common events. You will have clear & measured goals and support from your peers and Branch Operations Manager. How You Will Make an Impact:  You will often work directly with our customers to ensure reported service events are resolved within our service level targets and have primary front-line involvement throughout the lifecycle of projects, moves/add/changes, and other important efforts. You will also work closely with advanced service engineers to create statements of work for approval and get to the root cause of service events. You will take ownership of tasks and deliverables and see them through to the end. Essential Skills and Experience to be Successful in this Role: Excellent verbal communication, technical writing/drawing and organizational skills Ability to work individually and within a local and larger regional and sometimes global team A strong understanding of troubleshooting methodologies and good understanding of root cause analysis A strong understanding of VoIP and network topologies Understand VOIP technology - QOS (Quality of Service) Major components of the VoIP network- Voice packetization- Voice quality- Bandwidth- Traffic convergence issues- VoIP standardization and protocol-Network assessment A good understanding of networking concepts, including WAN / LAN/ ATM technology. An understanding of Wireshark and Cisco packet capture tools, bandwidth testing tools, and SNMP A strong understanding of Domains / Workgroups, and User accounts and Services DHCP / DNS / NTP Basic understanding of telephony- T-1, DS3, DSO, ARD’s, 4 wire-Hoot’s, & channel banks In depth understanding of cabling, building risers, fiber optics, patch panels, Cat 6 , 12 Pair, plus color codes A good and growing understanding of Cloud computing concepts including SaaS Desired Skills and Experience: Any IT Certifications in the following areas is beneficial: SIP Operating Systems (Microsoft, Linux) Servers (Server+, etc) Networking (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, etc.) Databases (My SQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL) PBX knowledge a plus (Avaya, Nortel, Cisco Call Manager, etc.) Compliance/recording technologies What’s in It for You?
