Fleet Services Technician Permanent Full-Time Barrie, Ontario Apply Now Posting Number: PC-26-08 Job Type: Permanent Full-time, Union Salary Range: $78,915.20 to $94,577.60 per year Posted: Thursday, January 15, 2026 Application Deadline:Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 11:59 pm The Opportunity The Operations Department is comprised of three Branches: Administration, Parks and Forestry Operations, and Roads, Fleet and Technical Operations. Key responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of the City’s public works infrastructure and systems including roadways, rail, winter maintenance, parks, green spaces, forestry, and maintenance of the corporation’s fleet of vehicles and equipment. The Fleet Services Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining a variety of City vehicles and equipment, including automobiles, small and large trucks, specialized equipment with attachments, and unlicensed landfill, road building and maintenance equipment such as gradalls, backhoes, loaders, and graders so that City staff have functioning vehicles in order to do their jobs effectively. Education (degree/diploma/certifications) Secondary School Diploma Valid Truck and Coach Technician (310T) Certificate of Apprenticeship (720 hours of In-School Training as outlined in the Apprenticeship Training Standards of the Ontario College of Trades, Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities) Don’t meet the credentials as outlined but have years of directly related experience? Further information is available at www.barrie.ca/government-news/jobs Position Equivalency Code: A Experience  One (1) year of experience as a licensed Automotive Service Technician or a Truck and Coach Technician Truck and Coach Technician (310T) Certificate of Apprenticeship (6000 hours of On-the-Job Training as outlined in the Apprenticeship Training Standards of the Ontario College of Trades, Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities) Knowledge/Skill/Ability  Basic computer literacy using the following systems and software: fleet software, Microsoft Word and email applications Conditions of Employment Valid Ontario Class "D" Driver's Licence with a "Z" endorsement in good standing Satisfactory Criminal Record Check* *Please note that this is a requirement for any new employees to the City of Barrie in accordance with the Police Record Check Policy. Existing employees who have met this criteria will be exempt from this requirement.
