Guided by our values of safety in every step, personal accountability, one team and active learning, we deliver the critical energy that North America and the world rely on while balancing reliability, affordability and sustainability.The OpportunityReporting to the Manager of NGTL/CGL Compression Operations Engineering in Canada Gas, the Operations Engineer will be assigned a geographic area and support the operation and reliability of our compressor station facility assets within their geo-area and broader system wide. You will be joining a high performing multidisciplinary team and liase with experienced engineers, field specialists and commercial operations.*Role is field based and can be located at any of these locations - Slave Lake, Cranbrook, or Lac La Biche.*Domestic relocation will be provided, if necessary*What you'll doConduct data gathering and engineering analysis for issue resolution, facility health assessments, root cause analysis and riskProvide field operations troubleshooting support to new and ongoing issues. This will include site visits to trouble shoot with senior reliability specialists and engineers.Evaluate/Trend operational and engineering data to identify bad actors, system issues and opportunities to improve equipment reliability maintenance.Facilitate operational decision-making risk assessments for compression facilities.Lead treatment plan actions to support asset and system risk reductionConduct root cause analysis discussions for equipment failures and support development of corrective actionsProvide operational support for inflight maintaining capital projects to ensure risks and solutions put forth in yearly programs are adequately mitigatedMOCs – complete scope development, Internal design and implementationCreate Engineering Justifications to provide technical recommendation on project needs and give context on recommended solution and alternativesComplete Fit for service/engineering assessmentsSupport TOPs - Development and maintenanceMinimum QualificationsUniversity degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Electrical EngineeringRegistered, or eligible to register, with APEGA as anEngineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) or Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in good standing1 - 5 years of progressive relevant engineering experienceDemonstrated ability to initiate change and help others adapt to a continuously changing work environmentProven ability to drive short-term and long-term technical solutions to complex and ambiguous problemsExperienced with engineering principles, codes, and standards to identify issue and recommend improvementsAbility to recognize and adapt to changing business prioritiesPreferred QualificationsBroad engineering expertiseTroubleshooting skills, including familiarity with all aspects of facility operationFailure investigation and root cause determination and interpretation of damage mechanismsFamiliarity with norms and standards related to equipment reliability, safety, and risk managementTime management skills and ability to work independently, including at field locationsPrevious maintenance process and system development experienceThis position requires candidates to:Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for reviewStay away from home base overnight which will include living in and maintaining company camps or housing (~30% of the time)To remain competitive, support our high-performance culture and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. #LI-HybridAbout our businessWe are a leader in North American energy infrastructure, spanning Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
