We innovate and apply science in order to ensure the safety and integrity of products and services, in line with our vision of science for a safer world.Job DescriptionJob ProfileThe Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist & Team Lead will manage programs and projects that promote workplace safety and environmental compliance across the organization. This role involves developing and implementing safety training, procedures, and emergency response plans, while ensuring adherence to OHSA regulations.Key ResponsibilitiesManage Environmental Health and Safety Programs and Projects Plan, design, develop and evaluate company wide safety programs including training and procedures under the direction of the EHS ManagerPlan, manage and execute projects with internal and external stakeholders related to workplace safety, occupational hygiene, internal or external audit, and environmental complianceMaintain awareness of amendments to the OHSA and Regulations, and make recommendations for their implementationLead investigation and RCA of workplace incidents, develop corrective actions along with relevant stakeholders, prepare WSIB and MLTSD reports if required and facilitate external communication related to incidentsMonitor and develop reports for internal stakeholders related to KPI metric’s, incident trends, and hazardous waste generation and develop and propose actions to address gapsDevelop and coordinate emergency response plans and conduct drillsLead and participate in risk assessments and help implement strategies to mitigate hazardsLead and coach participants in workplace inspections and safety investigationsLead and ensure the functionality of Joint Health and Safety Committee as required by legislationResearch occupational safety information to assure the best available methods and practices are adopted to minimize hazards in the workplaceDevelop and conduct occupational safety training for various workgroups, including evaluation and modification of programs to meet local, provincial, and federal OHSA requirementsMonitor the daily activities of staff by scheduling their work and monitoring timelines to meet targets and achieve departmental and company goalsSupport and drive Continuous Improvement (CI)Sponsor, lead, facilitate or participate in specific CI projects and establishment of Standardized WorkPromote a continuous improvement culturePerform Other DutiesPerform other duties and complete additional projects as assignedQualificationsBachelor’s degree in science or engineering with Chemistry knowledge6-10 years of experience in safety, environmental, or compliance with an understanding of OHS management systems, standards, and regulatory requirementsCRSP designation is an assetCompetencies RequiredResults orientedOutstanding interpersonal and people skillsExcellent organizational project management skillsEffective presentation skillsStrong understanding of relevant federal, provincial and municipal regulations (, OHSA, WHMIS, GHS, environmental regulation)Effective communication skills, both written and verbalProficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)Lab or chemical operation experience is a very strong assetAdditional InformationThe typical pay range for this role is:Minimum: CAD $75,000/ Yearly Maximum: CAD $85,000/ YearlyThis range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for the position.
