Service Electrician

Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled and dedicated Service Electrician to join our team. In this mobile role, you will operate from a fully equipped service vehicle, traveling to various client commercial facilities to provide expert electrical services. Our primary focus is on retail commercial buildings, with additional support for other commercial sites across our portfolio. Client locations will be within a service area of southern Ontario in the extended GTA region. Extending into areas of Windsor, Niagara, Ottawa, and Orillia.As a Service Electrician, you will respond to service calls, independently diagnose issues, and perform repairs on client electrical systems. You will ensure minimal downtime for our clients while delivering high-quality, safe, and code-compliant work. This position also involves identifying opportunities for improvements, providing on-site assessments, and preparing quotes for recommended repairs or upgrades to be submitted to office staff.Key ResponsibilitiesRespond to client-submitted service calls in a timely and professional manner.Independently diagnose and repair electrical issues in commercial facilities, with a focus on retail buildings.Perform preventive maintenance, testing, and repairs on electrical systems, including distribution, motors, controls, lighting, and miscellaneous equipment.Install, maintain, or repair electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, and other transmission equipment.Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or specifications to locate and resolve faults.Use standard computations for load requirements and employ a variety of electrician's hand tools, measuring devices, and testing instruments.Identify additional repair or upgrade needs during site visits and provide detailed quotes to office staff.Ensure all work complies with the Canadian Electrical Code and relevant safety standards.Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for emergency response.Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on jobs.Use of company issued electronic devices to complete required entries into client management system.Work ScheduleThis is a full-time position with regular working hours of Monday to Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm.On-call emergency 24 hour availability as needed during regular rotations.Possibility for after-hour and weekend work schedules based on client and site specific projects.QualificationsQualificationsFully licensed 309A Journeyperson or Fifth year apprentice electrician (valid certification to perform electrical work in Canada)High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial electrical systems, preferably in service/maintenance roles.Proven troubleshooting skills for high, medium, and low voltage electrical systems in large commercial structures, with emphasis on retail environments.Strong ability to self-perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs independently.Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients on-site.Knowledge, understanding, and utilization of work order management software.Valid driver's license and clean driving record (required for operating company service vehicle).Capability to obtain and retain security clearances for working in government sector facilities.Ability to complete and maintain Working at Heights certification.Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.Physical capability to perform the demands of the role, including lifting, climbing, and working in various environments.
