Position Details:Position: Casual Security OfficersSite: St. John's Port Authority Overtime: Overtime after 48 hoursHours: Casual - As neededPayrate: $ 20.00/hourPosting Date: November 17th, 2025Internal Closing Date: January 31, 2026External Closing Date: January 31, 2026Schedule Example: As RequiredKey responsibilities:TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESBased on specific site posting, log and report all incidents reported by SJPA staff or visitorsPatrol interior and exterior of facility preventing unauthorized entry; in a composed manner direct individuals initiating disruption to leave the premisesWhile on patrol, monitor risks such as unlocked doors, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical issues, hazardous material and additional breaches of securityRespond to alarms and emergency calls for assistance.Monitoring situations, cameras, property and eventsCommunicate in a truthful and receptive manner under all circumstances as well as provide information regarding the facility as requested by personnelSustain effective relationships with key managers and visitors through courteous and respectful relations perceived from their viewpointMonitor and screen visitors and clients in a professional manner in order to grant access to the facilityAccess control to monitor, record and submit written reports of the arrival of all vessels in each respective zone including arrival/departure time and berth locationPrerequisites:Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector checkMTSC (Marine Transportation Security Clearance) Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)Valid class 5 Driver License & a clean Driver's AbstractMust have a Work History in Canada for 5 yearsEnglish (oral and written) fluency is a mustPrevious experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the positionPlease be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availabilityWhy choose Paladin?Opportunities for training and professional development.Competitive wage and benefits package.Code of Conduct reimbursementPaid vacation & sick daysGet paid your way with flexible daily pay optionsWork today, get paid today—daily pay available
