Job Summary: Position SummaryWe are looking for an outstanding teammate to join our Paint team. If you love art, technology, and movies, then this might be the role you’re looking forILM strives to be an inclusive environment, and the Paint team embraces promising individuals with a variety backgrounds and experiences.What You’ll DoDemonstrate a strong eye for color and grain structures with the ability to match saturation, hues and black points from multiple sources to create a cohesive final montageAble to break shots down into individual components with little supervisionQuickly and effectively incorporate supervisor feedbackResearch and communicate relevant references, including continuity with similar shots, to the teamDemonstrate a keen eye for recognizing paint artifacts, sharpness and color issuesManage challenging shots involving heavy motion blur, a high number of layers, and other complexitiesEmploy a variety of techniques for complex wire removals and clean plate creationDemonstrate a basic ability to do “paint on comp” work to a high level of qualityWorking knowledge of color correction and Grain pipeline in NukeAbility to use layout and DM cameras in NukeExport track points seamlessly between multiple toolsetsWorking knowledge of the stereo compositing pipelineDemonstrate excellent troubleshooting skillsTake ownership of your shots and proactively offer solutions for production problemsActively work across departments in shot groups. Provide updates to production and other artists on shot progress What We’re Looking For5+ years of relevant professional VFX experience and a college-level diploma or higher in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography, or a related field; OR 7+ years of relevant professional VFX experience in lieu of educationExpertise in Silhouette and NukeComputer proficiency, including experience with UNIX operating systems and the ability to learn new software and adapt scriptsDemonstrate an understanding of how your work fits into the overall pipeline and its impact on upstream and downstream departmentsA willingness to learn new tools, a strong attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skillsAbility to work under tight deadlines and efficiently within a production environmentAs part of your application please submit a demo reel, shot breakdown, or equivalent showcasing your work. A current resume is required.JoinILMThe hiring range for this position in Vancouver is C$85,900.00 to C$109,900.00 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits, may be offered dependent on the level and position offered.
