Join North York General to accelerate your career Position Summary Mental Health Clinician, CHILD DVMNT & COUNS UNIT As a Mental Health Clinician, you will be a member of an interdependent multidisciplinary team and will be responsible for providing family and client-centered assessments and short term, solution focused counselling. You’re a great relationship builder and foster close contacts with peers across the entire organization. You have great interpersonal skills, and effortlessly connect with physicians, staff, patients, and families. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families. On a practical level, you will • System navigation as appropriate• Support and adhere to Hospital and appropriate College policies and procedures.• Provide administrative duties (i.e., record keeping, data collection, etc.).• Participate in the education of staff, students and the larger community as agreed upon with manager.• Assist in the development and maintenance of effective linkages with the Hospital and the mental health services, Family Physicians, etc.• Attend relevant committees/staff meetings.• Maintain client charts, statistics and other related client and workload measurement documents according to NYGH policies. Access, coordinate and advocate for services/resources to meet client needs.• Consult with other service providers to promote continuity of care for the client.• Participate in research and evaluation activities.• Provide supervision to students• Work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations Qualifications • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or related discipline.• Current membership in a Regulated Professional College or equivalence.• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in mental health. • Experience in walk-in or brief service preferred• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working with children, adolescents and their families.• Experience with virtual therapy• Experience with providing DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Brief therapies• Effective knowledge and written and verbal communication skills• Ability to work independently and in a team setting.• Ability to set priorities, organize and coordinate activities.• Demonstrate clinical competence.• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with hard to serve clients.
