About Us
At the Department of Finance and Treasury Board we strive to provide financial leadership, analysis and policies that strengthen Nova Scotia. As stewards of the province's financial affairs, we deliver a wide range of corporate fiscal and management services – including the preparation of the provincial budget – as well as ensure government plans are coordinated and fiscally responsible.
The Finance and Treasury Board (FTB) requires a student for the summer of 2025. Working closely with the department's records and information management staff, the student will gain practical experience and knowledge of working in a provincial government records management environment.
Primary Accountabilities
Under supervision of the Records Analyst 2, as the summer student your responsibilities will include:
- Accurately entering data on records into the department's records management system.
- Inventorying and preparing records for storage and/or final disposition.
- Searching and retrieving files for departmental staff on request.
- Assisting in the reorganization of records in the Central Registry.
- Assisting with the review, classification and processing boxes for records storage.
- Completing other inventory or process improvement tasks as required
The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a records management, archival or library program, and returning to school in the fall. Students enrolled in other post-secondary programs are also encouraged to apply. Candidates should possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, display strong organizational and analytical skills, and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and database programs is required.
Knowledge of online meeting platforms such as MS Teams is also an asset.
- Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.
- You must be able to lift boxes of documents weighing up to 40 lbs.
This is a Summer Student employment opportunity with anticipated end date of August 29, 2025.

Pay Grade: HOURLY
Salary Range: $15.73 - $29.69 Hourly
