SummaryProgressive’s Commercial Millworker plays a crucial role in the production of commercial cabinetry and millwork. This position involves operating various woodworking machinery and tools to shape, cut, and assemble components for commercial, residential, and ad hoc projects. The individual in this role must have a strong understanding of carpentry, finishing, and cabinet making techniques. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, and possess the ability to work efficiently as part of a team. Responsibilities Safety The desire to be an active member of Progressive Cabinets & Millwork’s Health & Safety Culture. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines when operating machinery. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Participate in safety training sessions and report any safety concerns promptly. Machine Operation Operate machinery such as saws, planers, jointers, routers, and sanders. Set up machines for specific tasks according to project specifications. Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and report any malfunctions promptly. Material Preparation Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand project requirements. Select and prepare raw materials, ensuring they meet quality standards. Cut and shape components using precision tools and machinery. Production & Assembly Assemble parts and components into finished products according to project specifications. Ensure the accuracy and quality of assembled pieces. Oversee and collaborate with other team members to achieve production goals. Provide input and consultation on the design and construction of custom items and items that may become standard issue. Cut and shape material that cannot be cut on the CNC machine. Complete edgebanding on pieces that cannot be completed by the edgebanding machine. Design and build jigs to assist in the production of custom and ad hoc items. Laminating product. Quality Control Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications. Identify and address any defects or imperfections in the final product. Work with supervisors to implement quality improvement initiatives. Collaboration Collaborate with other team members, including plant foreman and supervisors, in a variety of departments to ensure seamless workflow. Communicate effectively to address project requirements and resolve any issues that may arise. Requirements Available to work 6 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday to Friday*Some overtime will be required on Saturdays every couple of weeks 3 - 5 years of experience manufacturing cabinets in a similar environment. Strong focus on occupational health and safety. Exceptional organization skills. Excellent communication skills (written and oral). Ability to effectively read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
