Your Opportunity:The University of Alberta Hospital is one of Canada’s leading clinical, research, and teaching hospitals, treating more than 700,000 patients annually from western and northern Canada. This position contributes to the care of patients in the medicine program which consists of 14 units and includes the following services, General Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Pulmonary, Hematology and Geriatrics/Neurology. The program utilizes a collaborative care model (COACT) for patient care and Connect Care by Epic for the patient's electronic medical record. The program has a team of Clinical Nurse Educators and Clinical Nurse Specialist to support new hire orientation, training in specialized areas and ongoing professional development and initiatives. We strive to utilize evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient and family experiences and outcomes.Description: As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications: Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
