The Department of Religious Studies at Mount Allison University invites applications for a full-time nine-month sessional appointment in Community-Engaged Learning. The appointment will be made at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor and will commence on August 1, 2026, subject to budgetary approval. We seek applicants with demonstrated expertise in community-engaged learning, experiential education, and social justice work. A completed Ph.D. is preferred in a field such as: Religious Studies, Sociology, Community Development, Education, or Interdisciplinary Studies. The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching and ongoing development of the Community-Engaged Learning curriculum, and to the general research culture and activities of the Department. The teaching load will be 5 courses. These will likely include: Introduction to Compassionate Communities (CENL 1001) Education, Identity and Athletics (CENL 1401) Community Narratives (CENL 2001) Community Engagement in Schools (CENL 2101) Community as Classroom (CENL 3101) Applicants must provide evidence of ability to support students in reflective and relationship-focused learning, contribute to a student-centred, interdisciplinary environment and work collaboratively with community partners. Experience in the facilitation of projects with schools, non-profit or community organizations is required. Complete applications should include: A letter of application; A curriculum vitae; A two-page teaching philosophy that includes: approaches to experiential and community-based learning; a statement on EDIA; a one-page statement describing experience with community partnerships and supervision of student projects. Sample syllabi for any two of the above courses; The names and contact information of three referees.
