The Clinic is located adjacent to the Health Sciences Center in the west end of Winnipeg, at the southwest corner of Sherbrook Street and McDermot Avenue.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Nurse (Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse) to join our Treatment Room staff for a casual position. Treatment Room nurses work in the endoscopy and recovery rooms, as well as the minor treatment room on an occasional basis. Nurses will have a variety of responsibilities in each area that range from equipment set up, specimen collection and labelling, patient monitoring, chart prep, and assisting physicians with minor procedures.
What you will be doing:
- Assisting the physician with endoscopic and minor procedures. Incudes tasks such as repositioning patients, obtaining specimens and ensuring correct labelling, setting up sterile instrument trays and providing supplies as needed.
- Establishing IV access and administering sedation as directed by physician.
- Monitoring patients pre/during/post procedure. Using critical thinking to provide care for patient needs.
- Admitting, prepping, monitoring, and discharging patients in the pre and post sedation recovery area.
- Clerical preparation for the days ahead. Preparing patient documents, monitoring supply levels, and communicating with physicians' offices when needed.
- Accurate record keeping or procedure details and patient condition/outcome.
You Have:
- Valid Manitoba Nursing License (CRNM/CLPNM).
- Current CPR certification as recognized by Heart and Stroke, must be renewed annually.
- Proficient with use of electronical medical record keeping. Knowledge of Accuro EMR is an asset.
- Previous experience in operating room or endoscopy an asset.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Ability to lift approx 40-50 pounds.
- Comfortability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
