Summer Camp Counsellor

Position Summary: The Summer Camp Counsellor will work with the Strathmore Motor Products Sports Centre team in ensuring the well-being and safety of all participants, facilitate games and activities, provide daily feedback to the Sports Centre Manager and maintain a fun and inclusive environment for the participants. Duties will include but are not limited to: Implementation of the daily camp programs for children ages 5-12 years Ensure the health and safety of the children participating in the summer camp program Act as a positive role model and leader at all times Actively participate in all camp related activities (e.g., field trips, games, crafts…etc.) Ensure that all work areas are kept clean and organized and all equipment is well maintained Build positive relationships with camp staff, participants, and parents Follow all Town of Strathmore policies and procedures as required All other duties as assigned Successful applicants will demonstrate on their resume: Ability to communicate effectively with camp participants, parents, and other staff Ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances, including strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills High 5 Certification or another Recreation Certificate for children would be considered an asset Coaching or leadership training and experience would be considered an asset along with previous experience working with youth and youth programs Possession of Standard First AID/CPR-C certification Our Interview questions are STAR based (Situation, Task, Action, Result) intended to assess the following behaviours: A self starter with the ability to work independently and as a team A passion for working with children and ability to keep them engaged Job Perks: We like to have fun while we work Free admission to recreation facilities (Aquatic Centre, Family Centre Arena and Sports Centre) Opportunity to build and expand your professional profile through interesting and rewarding work
