Applicants are encouraged to self-declare in their application.  Position Summary  The Community Host is the first point of contact for clients and community members at Mount Carmel Clinic. They work to create a welcoming, respectful and safe environment for everyone and provide information, referral and assistance as needed. The Host participates in the implementation of safety protocols and works with other staff to manage urgent and emergent situations. The Host builds relationships and trust with individuals, families, staff and the community. QualificationsEducationMinimum of Grade 12 or GED Service Delivery Skills, Expertise and ExperienceMinimum of two (2) years of related work experience in a community settingUnderstanding of/experience working with marginalized communitiesDemonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse community and client groupPhysically able to meet the bona fide job requirementsComfortable with considerable amount of standing and walkingStrong customer service and interpersonal skillsComfortable in patrolling, monitoring and responding to situations of urgency and disturbanceDocument incidents, near misses and other matters in accordance with MCC policyExperience in maintaining, ordering and distributing of harm-reduction suppliesGreet service users and visitors in a welcoming manner.
