We are seeking a senior-level professional for the combined role of Solution Architect / Senior Data Engineer. This pivotal role is responsible for designing the overall Data Warehouse Architecture and solution on Microsoft Fabric, providing essential technical guidance to the development team, and directly assisting in the development of robust data pipelines. The architect will ensure the new data platform adheres to state-of-the-art design, aligns with best practices, and significantly enhances data governance, security, and standardization as part of the initiative to modernize the reporting environment. This is a Hybrid role based in Toronto, requiring three (3) days onsite per week.Duration: 12 months (with 12-month extension)Advantages- Pivotal Dual Role: Take ownership of both the architectural design and key development to ensure technical vision translates effectively into product.- Long-Term Engagement: Secure a substantial 12-month contract with the potential for an additional 12-month extension.- Cutting-Edge Technology: Lead the adoption and implementation of Microsoft Fabric to build a modern data platform.- Hybrid Work Model: Benefit from a standard hybrid schedule (3 days onsite in Toronto/2 days remote).ResponsibilitiesAs a Solution Architect / Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for:- Architecting and implementing Azure Cloud native Enterprise Data Lakehouse and Data Warehouse solutions using Microsoft Fabric, integrating both structured and unstructured data.- Providing technical guidance and leadership to the development team, and driving architectural decisions that influence the data platform's scalability and maintainability.- Designing and developing data governance, security, and compliance frameworks specifically within the Microsoft Fabric environment.- Designing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Apache Spark and actively assisting in the development of these pipelines to expedite the project.- Designing and implementing Lakehouse and Data Warehouse Models for seamless data ingestion, transformation, and consumption. Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into Microsoft Fabric architecture blueprints.- Guiding the migration of legacy systems to Microsoft Fabric and working closely with Data Engineers, BI Developers, and Cloud Architects to implement end-to-end data solutions.- Creating and maintaining critical technical documentation, including Architecture Diagrams, Solution Documents, and other related project artifacts.Qualifications- Extensive experience in architecting and implementing large-scale Enterprise Data Warehouse and Data Lakehouse solutions on a cloud platform (preferably Azure/Microsoft Fabric).- Deep technical expertise in Microsoft Fabric and its components, including developing data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.- Proven experience designing and implementing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Apache Spark.- Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques for both traditional data warehouses and modern lakehouses.- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into architecture blueprints and provide team guidance.- Ability to provide technical leadership and influence architectural decisions for scalability and maintainability.- Strong problem-solving ability to analyze existing systems, identify modernization areas, and troubleshoot challenges.SummaryIf you're interested in the Solution Architect / Senior Data Engineer role based in Toronto, we encourage you to apply online at www.randstad.ca.
