With competitive benefits, a strong community focus, and a commitment to work-life balance, Western is not just a place to work, it's a place to thrive Join our team and experience the Western difference – where caring for our customers, communities and team members is our passion Commercial Lines Underwriter II Here is what a typical day looks like Gathering and investigating background information in order to effectively assess risk involved Analyzing and classifying assigned applications to determine acceptability and establishing rates and premiums Negotiating terms and conditions of coverage including pricing on renewals, cancellations, new business and midterm changes Implementing underwriting alternatives based on authority, supporting business and exclusions Developing and maintaining positive relationships with brokers with a commitment to service Responding to inquiries from insurance agents regarding underwriting processes and decisions, interpretation of policy forms and coverage, and premium levels Providing service throughout the policy period, approving routine changes to existing coverage and responding to inquiries from the agent and client Contributing to the evaluation of agency performance and issues Mentoring junior underwriting staff in underwriting theory, technical and soft skill fundamentals. Coaching and guiding with respect to service standards as well as supporting in underwriting for senior underwriters Conducting comprehensive file reviews with client contacts and appropriately documenting files Contributing to the development of underwriting policy, procedures and guidelines The value you bring General Insurance Level 2 License required, CIP, or CAIB preferred 1 year of Underwriting experience an asset Professional communication etiquette, both written and verbal Adept in retrieving customer data efficiently Involvement in industry related associations and your community Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full time) Location: Remote in Canada (With Correct Licensing) Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 Requisition: 82460 At Western, we prioritize the well-being of our employees and are committed to fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity within our communities.
