Maintenance Technician

We are on a bus route, with a stop just outside of the hotel. We also pickup our employees from the bus loop at UBCO What will you be doing?Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing general maintenance repairs at both the Four Points by Sheraton and Hampton Inn and Suites. Your duties will include maintaining public spaces, identifying the need for repairs, responding to maintenance requests, and servicing company equipment.Respond and attend to guest & staff reported defects, carry a radio at all timesCommunicate with guests and staff to resolve maintenance issues in a timely and professional manner.Perform basic tasks including: troubleshooting TV’s and equipment, painting and filling crevices, changing light bulbs and filters, manage general maintenance repairs and clean-up of the repair area.Perform repairs as needed and inspect company machinery, equipment, or appliancesDetect and report the need for major maintenance repairsAble to operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all utility shut-offs for buildingsMonitor the pool equipment and chemical levels. Report any issues to the Maintenance Manager Help with seasonal exterior maintenance, including shoveling & salting sidewalks, assisting with seasonal displays, and any outdoor related landscapingEnsure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality and protect company assetsFollow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any hazards or concernsEnter and locate work-related information using computersMaintaining exterior part of the building which includes general cleanliness around the building, power washing side walks when required and assisting with garbage removalSweeping underground parkades when requiredUse of technology that provides access to maintenance requests such as Empower and KipsuAssist with Hotel Shuttle services as requiredRespond to emergency situations- Fire Alarm, Power Outage, Gas Leaks etc.…Perform other reasonable job duties as outlined by the Maintenance ManagerWhat are we looking for?Previous hotel maintenance experience is an assetHigh School graduation requiredAbility to troubleshoot and assess the work needed for maintenance proceduresMove, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance, reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, climbing laddersMust be legally eligible to work in Canada without restrictionPerks:Extended Health and Dental BenefitsWorld-wide accommodation and dining discounts with Marriott brandsEmployee discounts on accommodations, dining, Marina, and Heath & Wellness services at our sister properties (Hotel Eldorado, Manteo Resort and Eldorado Marina, and Hampton Inn & Suites Kelowna Airport).
