Main Purpose & FunctionThe Site Supervisor I is a routine supervisory position responsible for leading and directing the work of one or more subordinates engaged in various unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks.Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Site Supervisor I will supervise and participate in the work of one or more subordinates engaged in a variety of parks maintenance tasks such as stump removal in concrete-surrounded environments commonly found in downtown areas. The incumbent will coordinate the equipment used on the job site and under direction, will direct and participate in the work of a small group of subordinates engaged in special projects such as construction, landscaping, and stump removal. The Site Supervisor I is responsible for providing feedback to superiors on crew performance; ensuring that regulations regarding lunch breaks and rest breaks are adhered to; updating and maintaining paperwork, directing contractors, preparing and maintaining timesheets and routine work records, transporting materials, tools, equipment and crew members to worksites, providing information or direction in response to public inquiries and ensuring that safety precautions and regulations are observed and subordinates are instructed on safe and proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment. QualificationsEducation and Experience: The successful completion of Grade 12 plus sound related experience, and some experience as a crew leader or equivalent combination of training and experience is desired. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Sound knowledge of the methods, practices, procedures, materials, tools and equipment used in parks or utilities maintenance, repair and construction projects. Sound knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions required in the work. Ability to plan, assign, supervise and participate in the work of subordinates engaged in a variety of maintenance tasks. Ability to act as a lead hand to a group of subordinates and equipment operators engaged in very large construction projects. Ability to work under general supervision on routine assignments. Ability to prepare and maintain time sheets and records and to work from plans and sketches. Skilled in the use and care of tools and equipment used in the work.
