Cable Installation Technicians

Our Telecommunications group is currently looking to add Cable Installation Technicians to our growing team, based in Winnipeg, MB and Sault St. Marie, ON.Reporting to the Project Manager, these positions are responsible for the installation of fiber optic cable on aerial and underground telecommunications infrastructure. They perform fiber installation on wood poles and within underground duct systems, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAerial Fiber Installation on wood poles, including Steel strand installation, Guy wires and anchors, Cable lashing and related hardwareOperate bucket trucks and perform pole climbing when requiredRead and interpret construction drawings and work plansEnsure proper tensioning, clearance, and alignment of aerial fiber infrastructureUnderground Fiber Installation in underground duct systemsOperate cable jetting equipment and capstansPrepare ducts, install innerduct, and pull or jet fiber cable as requiredMaintain cable integrity and ensure proper placement and protectionConduct job hazard assessments and participate in safety meetingsIdentify and report hazards, deficiencies, or damaged infrastructureRequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent Previous experience as a Telecommunications Cable InstallerExperience with aerial fiber installation on wood polesExperience with underground fiber installation using jetters and capstansComfortable working at heights and in outdoor environmentsValid driver’s license and ability to provide a satisfactory Drivers AbstractBenefitsThis position offers an hourly rate of $26 – $35, depending on experience and qualifications.We offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including an RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.
