Manager, Commercial Operations

Cowan Insurance Group is looking for a highly motivated Manager, Commercial Operations to join our team Reporting to the Director, Commercial Operations, the Manager, Commercial Operations will support the execution of the commercial insurance strategy in the middle market segment. The Manager, Commercial Operations will focus on supporting our service and sales team by creating operational efficiencies, maintaining employee engagement, managing workload among direct reports and providing coaching as opportunities arise. Also, the Manager will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on key service metrics to ensure adherence to service level agreements. What you will do:Provide ongoing guidance and coaching to direct reports in support of personal growth and professional developmentEnsure availability of appropriate resources to the team to support success in their day-to-day objectivesAssist in problem solving and enhancement of technical expertiseManage staffing to ensure adequate coverage is in place for absences and scheduled vacation within the team Conduct quarterly employee performance meetings with direct reports to support their personal and departmental goalsMonitor and provide direction to effectively manage workload to ensure consistent levels of client service are being met Complete monthly statistical analysis and report on key metrics for the service teamActive involvement in the development and execution of strategic initiatives and projects as set out by the Management teamIdentify and monitor service issues with carriers, including regular touch points to address and resolve Arrange relevant education and training where needed What you will bring:5 years’ minimum experience with progressive and/or broad commercial insurance and technical knowledgeRegistered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) License is required, or willing to obtainHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredCanadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) or Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation, Canadian Risk Management (CRM), or working toward designations would be an assetPrior leadership experience is an assetExperience in a fast-paced working environment with a demonstrated ability to multitask and adjust priorities regularlyBusiness acumen (strategic thinking, business knowledge, solution oriented)Decision-making and disciplined execution (thoughtful decision-making, accountability)Teamwork and collaboration Personal effectiveness (integrity, adaptability, resilience, results-driven, self-development)Strong problem-solving abilitiesClient-focused and results-drivenStrong relationship-builder with exceptional interpersonal, communication, negotiation and presentation skillsAbility to travel is required (e.g. throughout Ontario)Alignment with the Company values of Integrity, Respect, Client Focused, Collaboration AccountabilityWho we are:Proudly independent and Canadian-owned, Cowan Insurance Group has been a true market leader in the insurance industry since 1927.
