Join our team todayJob descriptionWorking with a team of health professionals in an inter-professional collaborative model and under the supervision and/or delegation of a supervising physician (and in accordance with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario's policy on delegation) the Physician Assistant will provide quality patient focused care to patients in the Emergency Department under medical directives or direct orders.Accountabilities:Conducting patient interviews and taking medical historiesPerforming physical examinations and interpret findingsOrganizing laboratory and diagnostic investigationsPerforming certain controlled acts under medical directives delegated to you by a physicianCounselling patients on preventive health careOrganizing patient follow-upPerforming other duties within your competencies as a physician assistantJob qualificationsGraduate of the Physician Assistant Bachelors degree at McMaster University or the University of Toronto consortiumCertified through the National Commission on Certification of Physician AssistantCertified or eligible to be certified through the Physician Assistant's Certification CouncilCurrent Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Paediatric Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Advanced Life Support are mandatoryExperience working in an emergency department preferredDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in both a verbal and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health disciplinesDemonstrated competency to perform complete and appropriate clinical assessment and development of a treatment plan in accordance with medical directivesProven problem solving and critical thinking skillsAbility to work in a collaborative medical model of care with all members of the health care teamSatisfactory employment and attendance recordMust demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Service, Excellence, Compassion, Innovation and CollaborationAdditional informationHours: Currently Days/Evenings, 8 and 12 hours shifts (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)Internal application deadline: October 15, 2024#LI-VK1#TFT
