We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Information & Communication Technology team. The Systems Architect provides senior technical expertise for the broad range of strategic integrated systems deployed within Yukon government’s corporate IT infrastructure. This position advances YG towards a citizen centric, open-data technology architecture vision by leading consultation and collaboration with clients across YG and developing continuously evolving technology infrastructure plans that meet business needs and drive IT facilitated innovation in government departments. This position specializes in supporting YG’s network infrastructure and improves the enterprise technology and networking architecture that will enable our vision. The Information and Communications Technology Division of Highways and Public Works supports Yukon government’s evolving use of technology. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume. Extensive experience in designing and implementing enterprise-level storage solutions (e.g., SAN, NAS, object storage). Proven expertise in virtualization technologies, specifically with platforms like VMware ESXi, Nutanix and Microsoft Hyper-V. Demonstrated ability in capacity planning for large-scale storage and virtualized environments. In-depth knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity principles, with hands-on experience in planning and testing. Strong understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, SAN fabrics) as they relate to storage and virtualization. Relevant industry certifications such as VCP, MCSE, or similar are highly desirable. Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered. Desired knowledge, skills and suitability The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications, skills and knowledge, but also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture. Key competencies for success in this role include: Experience researching, recommending and implementing changes to procedures and systems to enhance application and systems security; Knowledge of current security regulations, advisories, alerts and vulnerabilities; Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders; Strong team building, supervisory, consultation and facilitation skills; Excellent communication, interpersonal and Project Management skills to effectively collaborate with technical teams and senior leadership. Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and hybrid-cloud architectures.
