DUTIES The Chemistry Department at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) invites applications for up to four 8-month sessional positions starting September 1, 2025. In this teaching-oriented position, candidates will create and maintain a positive and engaging learning environment while teaching classes with a particular focus on general, organic, and/or physical chemistry. Preference will be given to candidates with a documented track record of a successful, reflective teaching practice at the post-secondary level. Successful candidates may teach one or more of the following: CHEM 1500/1510/1520 ENG 1520 general chemistry lectures and labs CHEM 2120/2220/3240 organic chemistry labs CHEM 2250 physical chemistry lecture Our department is a collection of passionate chemistry educators interested in inspiring the next generation of chemists. The department offers BSc majors in Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry and Chemical Biology, as well as service courses to Engineering (ENG) and other departments. QUALIFICATIONS We seek applicants with a strong track-record of excellence in scholarly teaching in the field of general, organic, and/or physical chemistry. Applicants who are close to completion of their relevant PhD are welcome to apply and will be considered. The position entails creating and maintaining a positive, engaging learning environment and inspiring students in their chemistry studies. Accordingly, applicants must demonstrate success and innovation in teaching. It is also expected that the candidate will make a strong ongoing service contribution to the department, school, university and/or the broader community.
