The incumbent will collaborate with other members of the team while providing assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and psychotherapy.  The ability to conduct both individual and group treatment is an asset.  The Clinical Psychologist will primarily provide psychological services to patients within the Psychiatric Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit but will also provide consultation, assessment, and treatment, as needed to the Forensic Assessment Correctional Treatment Unit, Transition Bungalow Program, and Community Program.  Duties will include conducting comprehensive assessment of violence risk, personality, and cognitive skills in addition to other psychological assessments (e.g., neuropsychological screening), provision of treatment through both individual and group settings.  Duties will also include participation in the predoctoral internship program and supervision of practicum students.  Participation and testimony before the Criminal Code Review Board of Nova Scotia and expert witness testimony will also be required.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following: Recognized MSc  in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university programRegistered or eligible for registration with the NSBEPA minimum of two years relevant clinical experience is preferredPreference will be given to those individuals with violence risk assessment training/experience (including the VRAG-R; PCL-R-2; HCR-20-V3; and START) and those with experience in a forensic inpatient settingFormal training and clinical experience in conducting psychological and cognitive assessment and consultationThe successful candidate will also demonstrate maturity and a capacity to work effectively with resistant and sometimes challenging client groupsSelf directed in practice with an ability to work independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team while dealing with challenging clinical situations and crisesDemonstrated ability and expertise in developing and presenting education programs to health care professionals and community organizationsExperience with the provision of clinical supervision to students from psychology and other mental health disciplines, and willingness to incorporate such responsibilities into work routineCompetencies in other languages is an asset, French preferred Please ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications.HoursPermanent, Full-time / 100% FTE / 75 Hours Bi-weeklyFree Parking on SiteCompensation and Incentives$42.21 - $58.30 Hourly Candidate Registered (step 4): $49.23 HourlyMasters Registered (steps 5-9): $51.22 - $58.30 Hourly Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.Once You've AppliedThank you for your interest in this position.
