The Purchasing and Commodity Analyst plays a key role in supporting global procurement strategies by providing data-driven insights into commodity markets, analyzing trends, and ensuring cost-effective purchasing decisions. This position requires a deep understanding of commodity exchange pricing, global supply chains, and risk management to optimize purchasing strategies and maintain a competitive advantage.

Responsibilities
Commodity Market Analysis:

Monitor and analyze global commodity exchange price trends and market dynamics affecting oils and related raw materials.
Prepare detailed reports on market conditions, price forecasts, and supply chain risks for management.
Track geopolitical and economic developments influencing the availability and prices of raw materials.

Procurement Support:

Collaborate with the Executive Vice President to develop and implement global procurement strategies.
Evaluate supplier proposals, contracts, and terms to ensure alignment with company objectives.
Support negotiations with suppliers by providing analysis and recommendations to achieve cost savings.

Risk Management:

Assist in developing and implementing risk management strategies, including hedging and futures contracts.
Identify and recommend actions to minimize exposure to market volatility and supply chain disruptions.
Monitor inventory levels to align with procurement strategies and minimize storage costs.

Data Management and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date databases on commodity prices, historical trends, and supplier performance.
Provide regular updates to the Executive Vice President and other stakeholders on key procurement performance indicators and market conditions.
Develop dashboards and visualizations to support decision-making.

Supplier Relationship Management:

Assist in building and maintaining strong relationships with global suppliers.
Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, reliability, and pricing benchmarks.
Collaborate with suppliers to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve value-added services.

Sustainability and Compliance:

Support the integration of sustainability practices into procurement strategies.
Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, certifications, and company policies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Economics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
2 to 4 years of experience in commodity analysis, procurement, or a similar role (experience in oils or food commodities is a plus).
Strong understanding of commodity exchange pricing and global supply chains.
Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) and ERP systems.
Experience in risk management, including hedging strategies and futures contracts.
