Join us, and together, let's shape a brighter future for B.C.Position OverviewThe assignment will provide opportunities for engagement with engineers, managers and others in different departments in the organization, and provide an understanding of some of the workings within the operating and engineering groups at FortisBC.In this role, you will:Be involved in the design and maintenance of overhead transmission linesAssist the transmission engineers in preparing designs and construction packages for transmission line projectsBe involved in the drafting of various transmission design and standard drawingsPerform multiple site visits to better understand the Transmission and Distribution system, gather design information and inspect completed construction workPerform analysis of transmission line condition assessment information and create condition assessment reportsBe exposed to PLSCADD design software for the design and analysis of transmission linesMaintain FortisBC transmission line records and be responsible for the filing of asbuilt data from completed transmission projectsProvide technical support and work with the Operations group and the Standards GroupResearch technical information on new utility products and practicesNetwork with other utilitiesWhat it takes:Electrical Engineering Student - Third or Fourth year preferredValid driver’s license and current abstractInterested in learning more about the Electrical Utility IndustryCompetent public speakerExperience or knowledge with AutoCAD and competence in Excel, Word and PowerPointAdditional InformationThis is an 8 month co-op term starting in May 2026.
