Senior ML Platform Developer

Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?Our team is looking for experienced ML Platform Engineer with expertise in full stack development to contribute to our platform services.RBC Borealis ML platform engineering team is responsible for enabling on-premises infrastructure for our internal data engineering and data science teams at RBC. We work with 100s of developers and data scientists across RBC to leverage our on-premises resources to accelerate their work across the full end-to-end data and machine learning lifecycle. This is a unique opportunity to grow in the world of machine learning infrastructure and work with a team of passionate individuals committed to the mission of bringing ML to enterprise.At RBC Borealis, you’ll be joining a team that works on building and enhancing on-premises solutions to support data engineering and data science teams across the organization. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining platform services, APIs, and tools to enable seamless machine learning workflows and lifecycle management.The Enterprise Architecture team is undertaking multiple complex enterprise-wide initiatives as part of RBC’s ongoing plan to improve technology management and architectural governance across the organization. In this role you will be responsible for strategically planning and managing successful implementation of the above mentioned.  The role will coordinate, develop, lead, communicate and execute activities to ensure objectives are accomplished according on time.What will you do?Performing complex application programming activities, including coding, testing, debugging, documenting, maintaining, and modifying complex applications programsCreate and review technical design documents, understand how the design will be used in the code development process, and facilitate meetings to design, troubleshoot, and execute projectsDevelop APIs and microservices to support Enterprise Machine Learning Platform client initiativesPresent technical topics at regular sprint meetingsDesigning, building, and optimizing machine learning deployment tools and automation systems that operate the business’s data and ML applicationsSupporting applications and projects with infrastructure design decision, and monitoring solutionWhat do you need to succeed?Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent3+ years’ experience as a software developer/software engineer and proficient in at least one major programming language, as well as strong knowledge of object-oriented design and data structuresStrong working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL DatastoresExperience in building APIs and RESTful servicesExperience in mentoring junior engineers, leading code review and design sessionsPassion for simplifying and automating work, making things better, continuous learning, solving open-ended problems, improving efficiency and helping othersStrong communication skills with ability to work cross-functionally to articulate, measure and solve issuesGreat attention to detail, organizational skills and an analytical mindStrong platform engineering experience and experience implementing scalable distributed systemsExperience implementing monitoring solutions to identify system bottlenecks and production issuesNice-to-have:Working with building and maintaining DevOps pipeline, such as GitHub actionsPrevious experience with MLOps orchestration tools such as AirFlow, KubeFlow, Dagster.Data engineering knowledge is helpful but not required for the roleWhat’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
