Buffalo Catering Employees LP is looking to fill a Journeyperson Cook position at our lodge located near Fort McMurray, AB. The successful candidate will prepare a wide variety of foods, do inventory and grocery orders, and ensure the highest quality of food possible. Duties will include meal preparation, inventory, administrative tasks, safety and teamwork. Cooks must work in a friendly and efficient manner with the client and all staff, manage special requests, and ensure the smooth working order of the site.Key Responsibilities Providing support to the First Cook, the Cook will prepare and cook menu items as they are received in accordance with established menu specifications; Ensure all daily, weekly and monthly cleaning lists are completed; Ensure all food storage areas are organized and clean; Ensure food quality, food safety and service standards are met and maintained daily; Adhere to safety policies and procedures by following company Safe Work Practices and Standard Operating Procedures; Assist in training and education of all culinary staff including apprentices; Performs other tasks as assigned. Qualifications 3-5 years of culinary experience working in a high volume kitchen. Experience with high volume baking, inventory and grocery ordering would be an asset. Alberta recognized Journeyman Cook Certification is required. Must possess a valid National or Alberta recognized Food Safe Certificate prior to working. Must be able to successfully pass a drug/alcohol test. Proven leadership skills and self-motivated. Ability to work within a multi-cultural and unionized environment. Strong organizational skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal. Excellent comprehension and command of the English Language. Must be able to move, lift, carry, pull, push, and place objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
