The range does not include additional compensation such as bonuses, equity, benefits, or other incentives.Job Summary:  Altus Group is currently seeking a candidate in the position of Associate based out of our Halifax office to join our Development Advisory division. The Associate will be an integral part of the Atlantic team, responsible for managing multiple development advisory project deliverables, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and efficient output within assigned budgets. This role provides comprehensive quantity surveying and cost planning across public and private sector projects in the Atlantic region. The Associate will actively support client relationship management, technical quality assurance, and business development initiatives through service excellence. Key Responsibilities:Deliver cost planning, project monitoring, estimating, value management, and consulting services for a variety of project asset classes throughout the Atlantic region.Prepare detailed and conceptual cost estimates, including measurements of building elements and review of contract documentationProvide benchmarking data, unit cost analysis, and complex takeoffsReview, negotiate, and validate pricing for change orders to ensure alignment with project budgetsCollaborate with internal and external project stakeholders to gather data information to prepare proposals/reports; develop innovative solutions to meet the client’s unique requirementsConduct technical checking and quality assurance of peer review reports to ensure professionalism prior to issuanceDirect the distribution and collection of inputs required for estimate preparation, ensuring adherence to deadlinesMaintain positive and proactive client communication to resolve issues and support ongoing project needsSupport business development by fostering strong. long term client relationships and identifying opportunities for continued engagementKey Qualifications:Minimum 5-7 years of experience in construction cost estimating, project monitoring, cost control, and quantity take-offsProfessional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) with CIQS is preferred; candidates working towards PQS designation will also be consideredStrong knowledge of the local construction industry, including owners, contractors, sub-trades, and contract structuresProficiency in CostX (including Databooks), Bluebeam, Sharepoint, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, TeamsExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with attention to detailUnderstanding of CIQS standard method of measurement – elemental/trade, Provincial lien act and Standard contract conditions – CCDCKnowledge of various procurement methods and project scheduling principlesAbility to complete trade and elemental take-offs from preliminary design through tender and construction documentation#LI-HybridUnlock your Altus ExperienceIf you’re looking to advance your career in in an industry that is transitioning for greatness, there’s no better place than Altus Group.Our high trust, high performance culture prioritizes progressive programs that empower you to deliver your greatest performance while promoting collective success where everyone is recognized and connected.We offer boundless opportunities in a rapidly growing global business: mentorship from the best and brightest in CRE, access to our Altus Intelligence Academy, and the chance to work with the best data sets, tools and technology in the industry.What Altus Group offers: Rewarding performance: competitive compensation, incentive and bonus plans, and a total rewards package prioritizing mental, physical, and financial well-being.Growth and development: we invest in your professional learning.
