In this role you’ll work side-by-side with some of the most talented operators in the energy industry to perform work that supports smooth and efficient operations of our Base Plant Upgrading assets. You will play a key part in Suncor’s Conduct of Safe Operations (CoSO) process, maintaining consistent standards for safety and reliability 24/7.Minimum Requirements:Experience in plant operations such as heavy oil processing, sour gas processing, water treatment/power plants or refinery operationsStrong troubleshooting skills and the ability to make timely decisions under pressure3rd Class Power Engineering certification (or higher)High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving recordResponsibilities:Follow all operating processes and procedures during operations to ensure the safety of our people, equipment, and the environment Prepare and complete daily area logs and communicate significant changes and findingsProvide direction and supervision to the maintenance and contract personnel Ensure timely action and process adjustments during plant upsets that are consistent with operational objectives and target outputsPrepare equipment and systems for maintenance and commissioningLocation and other Key Details:You will work out of our Base Plant site in Fort McMurray, AlbertaThe shift schedule is a 6 days on / 6 days off rotation (3 days on, 3 nights on, 6 days off; 12-hour shifts)This position is safety sensitiveYou will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use of ladders and working on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spacesIf you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatoryTo learn more about living and working in Fort McMurray, Why Suncor? Suncor's operations include oil sands development, production and upgrading; offshore oil and gas; petroleum refining in Canada and the U.S.; and the company's Petro-Canada retail and wholesale distribution networks (including Canada's Electric Highway™, a coast-to-coast network of fast-charging electric vehicle stations).With a strong strategy for growth and our long-standing approach to sustainability, operational excellence, capital discipline and technology and innovation, Suncor offers a solid foundation for you to continue building your career.
