Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
Personal Care: Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
Medication Management: Administer medications as prescribed and ensure adherence to medication schedules. Monitor and report any changes in medication needs or side effects.
Companionship and Emotional Support: Engage in meaningful conversations, actively listen, and provide emotional support to clients. Foster a positive and supportive environment.
Light Housekeeping: Perform light housekeeping tasks, including tidying up clients' living areas and laundry and maintaining a clean and organized environment.
Assist with mobility and transfers: Ensuring the safety and well-being of clients. Proficient in safe lifting techniques and experienced with overhead lifts.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of client care, including daily activities, medication administration, and any changes in health status. Report concerns, incidents, or significant observations to the appropriate supervisor or healthcare professionals.
Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, admins, healthcare professionals, and other members of the caregiving team.
Comply with Regulations and Policies: Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies related to client care, privacy, confidentiality, and occupational health and safety.
Caregiver Qualities:
Compassionate and Empathetic: Demonstrates genuine concern for clients' well-being and emotional needs, showing empathy and compassion in their caregiving approach.
Reliable and Punctual: Consistently shows up on time and follows the agreed-upon schedule. Demonstrates reliability in fulfilling caregiving duties and responsibilities.
Trustworthy and Ethical: Maintains a high level of integrity, honesty, and confidentiality in all interactions with clients, their families, and the caregiving team.
Excellent Communication Skills: Demonstrates clear and effective verbal and written communication skills. Listens attentively and conveys information in a manner that is easily understood.
Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Exhibits strong problem-solving skills, able to think quickly on their feet and adapt to changing circumstances or unexpected situations while maintaining client safety and well-being.
Team Player: Works well within a team environment, collaborating with other caregivers and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated client care.
Cultural Sensitivity: Respects and appreciates cultural diversity and is sensitive to the unique values, beliefs, and practices of clients from different backgrounds—desire to treat and care for seniors and their property with dignity and respect.

Requirements:

BC Care-Aide Registry Number and/or BC HCA Certificate: Candidates must have a valid BC Care-Aide registry number and certificate to demonstrate their eligibility for providing care services.
Complete COVID-19 Vaccination Record: Candidates should have completed their COVID-19 vaccination and be able to provide a record of their vaccination status.
TB Clearance Certificate: Candidates must provide a valid TB clearance certificate to ensure the safety and well-being of our clients.
Personal and Professional References: Candidates must provide two personal and two professional references who can speak to their character, work ethic, and suitability for a caregiver role.
Ministry of Justice Criminal Background Check and Motor Vehicle Record Check: Candidates must consent to a Ministry of Justice criminal background check to ensure the safety and security of our clients. Additionally, a motor vehicle record check will be conducted when applicable.
Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license is necessary for this position. Having access to a vehicle is considered a significant advantage.
Smartphone: Candidates must have a smartphone for scheduling and reporting purposes. This will enable effective communication, coordination, and timely reporting of their caregiving activities.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and a rotational on-call shift.
