The Social Worker III Team/Clinical Lead is responsible for the leadership and coordinating staff, programs and services within ED, Women’s Health, NICU, Critical Care areas, Surgery, Medicine and Ambulatory Clinics. This position involves mentoring, responding to clinical questions, and coordinating ongoing skill development to deliver effective clinical services based on evidence and population need across the health continuum. Responsibilities include planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of programs and services, serving as a liaison and resource for staff, physicians, and students. This position leads interdisciplinary staff or departments to provide evidence-informed services within program parameters and adheres to AHS and other relevant legislation, standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Participation in quality improvement initiatives, program development, evaluation, and knowledge translation is required, along with collaboration on zone and provincial initiatives.

Daily duties may include workload utilization, referral triage, equipment management, and interdisciplinary student placements. Successful candidates will possess well-developed leadership skills and experience, with an emphasis on critical thinking and problem solving in collaboration with patients and healthcare teams.

Description

As a Social Worker III, you will perform advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will provide healthcare services for patients with complex medical, psychosocial, environmental, and instrumental needs. Responsibilities include providing advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families, and supervising students and team members as assigned. Acting as a clinical lead involves planning, developing, and delivering services in a specific area, along with staff development, quality improvement, and evaluation or research activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 1-year recent supervisory experience.
  • 3-5 Years prior experience in an acute mental health setting.
  • Experience providing therapy and psychosocial interventions essential.
  • Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act, the Alberta Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading teams, coaching, mentoring, and teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships and partnerships with internal and external/community stakeholders.
