About the Opportunity

Under the direction of Management, the Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) collaborates with members of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine by performing various functions related to pre and post-analytical phases of testing. Responsibilities include specimen procurement, data entry, media preparation, sterilization, clerical duties, and specimen loading on analyzers. The role may involve supply management, troubleshooting, and customer service. Positive patient identification and accurate specimen handling are essential. Duties vary based on operational needs, requiring potential work shifts, weekends, holidays, and off-site work. MLAs must adhere to safety and infection prevention protocols, demonstrate excellent customer service, and maintain a professional appearance.

About You

We seek candidates with:

  • Recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent.
  • Completion of the Medical Laboratory Assistant examinations and current registration with CSMLS.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer skills; Meditech experience preferred.
  • Attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Competencies in other languages, preferably French.

Hours
  • Permanent Part Time; 37.5 Hours Bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives

$24.48 - $27.73 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for a benefits package including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
