At Infinera, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. Your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for equity grants, discretionary bonuses, or commission payments. The amount of these incentives is based on the terms of the Company’s incentive plans, the Company’s financial performance, and/or individual employee job performance.

The Electrical Engineer, Optical Subassembly, is responsible for electrical and control design of the transmit/receive optical assembly (TROSA) for coherent transceivers. The position requires multitasking and interfacing with multiple engineering groups in multiple geographic locations. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with designing small form factor optical assemblies for automated assembly in high-volume manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Review, evaluate and respond to product requirements.
- Contribute to concept design studies through analytical studies and prototyping of electrical functions and control loops.
- Drive component selection, execute schematic capture, guide layout and evaluate hardware through design verification testing.
- Interface with TROSA electrical, optical, mechanical, signal integrity and IC designers and contribute to design reviews.
- Establish and maintain TROSA electrical analog and digital design specifications.
- Create electrical test specification for TROSA manufacturing
- Primary contact with transceiver electrical and firmware designers for module integration.
- BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, 0-5 years experience
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, prioritize, and drive projects to completion
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas, concepts, and results to both highly technical and non-technical co-workers
- Ability to function independently as well as in a team environment
- CAD tools: experience with Cadence Concept HDL
- Understanding of optical transceivers is a plus
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills required
- Ability to travel up to ~10% of time.
