The Ovintiv Operations Shared Services team has an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation Apprentice within the Canadian Operating Area. The Apprentice Instrumentation under the direction of the Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance Coordinator will support the team in ensuring safety on instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct work in a manner prescribed by Ovintiv’s Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Safe Work Practices.
  • Learn and perform the work required to troubleshoot, repair, maintain and calibrate all instrumentation equipment.
  • Maintain superior housekeeping standards throughout the field and associated areas.
  • Identify and assess opportunities to improve safety, reliability and maintenance costs.
  • Understand and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification and emergency response.
  • Ensure effective communication with operations, maintenance and management staff.
  • Maintain proper documentation of calibration and repair records.
  • Ensure ongoing performance improvement including job progression, site-specific training, process training.
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management system.
  • Use pressure and/or electrical test equipment to troubleshoot systems.
  • On-Call support as required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on instrumentation (Calibrate, replace and test as required); maintain field instrument records and standards.
  • Learn how to read and understand P&IDs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum grade 12 education.
  • The ideal candidate will have gas/oil or instrumentation experience.
  • Knowledge and/or relevant experience in sour and sweet gas compression and processing facilities is considered an asset.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently
  • High safety standards
  • Proficient in the use and application of PC programs.
  • The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding and troubleshooting capabilities for different instrumentation related devices including: Positioners, Level transmitters, Pressure Transmitters, Coriolis meters, Ultrasonic meters, Differential flow measurement devices.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
