About this Opportunity
Reporting to the Network Engineer, the Fibre Technician will work to pull, install, inspect, repair, troubleshoot, terminate, splice, and test fibre cable for various customers.
Key Responsibilities- Install, repair, and/or layout fiber communication cabling with minimal supervision.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues.
- Prioritize work requests, meet service level targets, and escalate issues as required.
- Respond to customer outages for 24 x 7 network reliability, acting as first line technical support.
- Work with network engineers to provision customer-side ONTs and switches.
- Keep detailed network records and information systems up-to-date.
- Install network services and infrastructure in various settings; setup and troubleshoot related systems.
- Splice and terminate fiber optic cable; use common test equipment and network analyzer software.
- Maintain customer premise equipment.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support.
- Oversee network provisioning and configuration according to service orders and operational standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school GED or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a fibre technician or splicer.
- Experience with troubleshooting, installing, Fusion Splicing, and OTDR testing of fiber cable.
- Understanding of Fibre technologies, including GPON.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues with communication cabling and signals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio, AutoCAD, and GIS software.
- Ability to read technical network diagrams and schematics.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; must be able to use hand and power tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to adapt to rapidly changing work requirements.
- Works well independently and on a team.
- Detail and service-oriented; committed to meeting deadlines.
- Analytical, systematic approach to problem solving.
- Flexible work schedule; able and willing to work after hours.
- Valid Class G Driver's License.
- Physically fit; able to lift and set up equipment.
- A flexible work environment.
