Your Opportunity: As the Orthoptist, for the Vision Clinic at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, you will strive to achieve the highest level of professional conduct in keeping with the principle of family-centered care, fully respecting the child and family, and cognisant of ethnic and cultural differences. The duties expected of you will include assessment, diagnosis and treatment when indicated by clinic and community ophthalmologists. You will work directly with the ophthalmologists on their clinical days and will participate in multidisciplinary programs within the hospital upon request. Description: As an Orthoptist, you will perform advanced-level eye function measurements and ancillary tests to assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye disorders and diseases. You will participate in research studies, educational rounds and in-services, and maintain good medical knowledge of ocular anatomy, pharmacology, diseases, and management, including current available treatments and clinical trials.

Required Qualifications: Completion of an orthoptic course from an accredited institution. Active membership with the Canadian Orthoptic Council (COC). Additional Required Qualifications: As required. Preferred Qualifications: Previous pediatric experience. Additional technical skills i.e.. Tonometry, ultrasonography, retinoscopy and perimetry.
