FTE Definitions:
1.0 FTE = 100% time or 5.0 days per week
0.9 FTE = 90% time or 4.5 days per week
0.8 FTE = 80% time or 4.0 days per week
0.7 FTE = 70% time or 3.5 days per week
0.6 FTE = 60% time or 3.0 days per week
0.5 FTE = 50% time or 2.5 days per week
0.4 FTE = 40% time or 2.0 days per week
0.3 FTE = 30% time or 1.5 days per week
0.2 FTE = 20% time or 1.0 day per week
0.1 FTE = 10% time or 0.5 days per week

New hires to the Simcoe County District School Board will be required to submit a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) that is satisfactory to the Board prior to beginning employment. All new employees will be required to complete mandatory training modules with the Board prior to their first day of employment. Duties of Teachers as per R.R.O. 1990, REGULATION 298:

  1. be responsible for effective instruction, training and evaluation of the progress of pupils in the subjects assigned.
  2. carry out the supervisory duties and instructional program assigned by the principal.
  3. co-operate fully with appointed teachers and the principal in all matters related to the instruction of pupils.
  4. be present in the classroom or teaching area and ensure it is ready for the reception of pupils before the commencement of classes.
  5. assist the principal in maintaining close co-operation with the community.
  6. prepare teaching plans and outlines as required by the principal.
  7. ensure reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities for which the teacher is responsible.
  8. co-operate with the principal and other teachers to establish and maintain consistent disciplinary practices.
  9. ensure report cards are fully and properly completed and processed according to guides available electronically.
  10. co-operate and assist in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act.
  11. participate in regular meetings with pupils’ parents or guardians.
  12. perform duties as assigned by the principal related to co-operative placements of pupils.
  13. perform duties normally associated with the graduation of pupils.
