Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement)
Effective Date: Immediately but not later than March 1, 2025 (or return of teacher)

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:- Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
- Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures.
- Understanding and commitment to current middle school philosophy:
- Teaming: demonstrated ability and experience working with one or two other teachers to support a core group of students.
- Advisory: dedicated instructional time with students to foster connectedness and positive relationships to support adolescent development.
- Exploratory: providing students the opportunity to sample high interest courses.
- Collaboration: ongoing inquiry-based teamwork.
- Demonstrated successful classroom experience teaching at the middle school level.
- Consistent use of the most current instructional practices to create a powerful balanced literacy program to meet the diverse needs of learners; preference for candidates with experience in small group targeted literacy instruction.
- Consistent use of the most current instructional practices to create a powerful balanced numeracy program; preference for candidates with experience in small group targeted numeracy instruction.
- Willingness to use outdoor learning space as part of the extended classroom connecting place and space.
- Willingness to use District and Ministry data sets (ACT, SNAP, FSA, PM/RR) to identify student needs and drive informed teaching practice and team teacher planning.
- Commitment and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of an assigned teaching team.
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to Indigenizing curriculum using the First Peoples Principles of Learning.
- Demonstrated use of highly successful assessment strategies in the classroom for, of, and as learning.
- Demonstrated use of highly successful instructional strategies and lesson designs (i.e., a Connect, Process, Transform, Reflect approach).
- Experience intervening, supporting, and motivating struggling learners through a Response to Intervention (RTI) lens, particularly in literacy and numeracy.
- Ability to recognize and acknowledge individual student differences and adjust instructional practices accordingly through informal adaptations and formal Competency Based Individual Education Plans (CBIEPs).
- Ability to engage and motivate students through the appropriate integration of technology.
- Ability to set and clarify learning standards and establish effective classroom procedures and relationships.
- Excellent classroom management, behaviour management, and classroom organization skills; experience with Positive Behaviour and Support (PBS) is an asset.
- Proven ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff, and parents.
- Proven ability to inspire confidence and self-worth in adolescents.
