Clinical Supervisor

Working with the program instructor, the successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the PSW student in the transition from in-class theory to apply learned knowledge and practical lab skills into the clinical setting in a long-term care setting. The Clinical Supervisor will complete mid-term and final evaluations for each student, as well as assisting the students with completion of a skills passbook and supporting clinical placement assignments. The clinical instructor will work as a liaison between the staff and students to promote a safe and supportive learning environment for students to gain experience and have a greater understanding, including application of required skill sets. In addition, the clinical supervisor will work with the employer to secure supportive preceptors to assist each student with their learning experience.
Qualifications- Registered Nurse, in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- At least three years’ experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Long-Term Care
- Hospital
- Community Agency
- Gerontology
- Experience in supervision, evaluation, and assessment of Personal Support Workers (PSWs)
- Experience in clinical placement support (of PSWs, PNs, or RNs)
- Understanding and knowledge of PSW training standards including those set out by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
