Operations Manager – Inventory & Supply Chain (Maternity Leave Coverage)


Position Overview


The Operations Manager (Maternity Leave Coverage) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of inventory management, supply chain operations, and process optimization to ensure the seamless flow of products from suppliers to customers. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate stock levels, reducing costs, and improving overall operational efficiency . The ideal candidate has strong inventory forecasting skills, vendor management experience, and leadership abilities to drive continuous improvement in warehouse and logistics functions.


This is a temporary maternity leave position starting May 2025 and ending September 2026 .


Compensation & Benefits

  Salary: $70,000 per year

Key Responsibilities


1. Inventory Management & Optimization

  • Track, monitor, and maintain accurate inventory levels across multiple platforms, including ERP/MRP systems and Shopify .
  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures to optimize stock levels, minimize waste, and prevent stockouts.
  • Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy and mitigate discrepancies.
  • Maintain integrity within the InfoPlus or other inventory management systems , ensuring accurate data input and reporting.
  • Establish reorder thresholds and create forecasting models to align inventory with sales trends and demand.
  • Oversee SKU and barcode setup for efficient tracking, categorization, and reporting .


2. Supply Chain & Vendor Coordination

  • Work closely with suppliers, manufacturers, and fulfillment centers to ensure on-time delivery and replenishment .
  • Manage purchase orders (POs) and coordinate with vendors to track shipment timelines, delays, and expected arrivals .
  • Oversee en-route imports , working with customs brokers to ensure seamless customs clearance.
  • Optimize relationships with raw material suppliers , ensuring the timely availability of packaging, labeling, and components .
  • Analyze supplier performance and negotiate cost-effective contracts while maintaining product quality.


3. Warehouse & Logistics Management

  • Oversee 3PL (third-party logistics) operations , ensuring timely order fulfillment and shipping efficiency.
  • Monitor warehouse operations , including receiving, storage, and distribution to streamline inventory movement.
  • Identify and resolve shipping, warehouse, or ASN-related delays to minimize customer impact.
  • Develop shipping strategies that balance cost, speed, and efficiency to improve service levels.


4. Data-Driven Decision Making & Reporting.

  • Analyze inventory turnover, demand trends, and order patterns to drive efficiency in inventory planning.
  • Create and maintain inventory dashboards and reports , providing insights into stock levels, supply chain health, and replenishment needs.
  • Track operational KPIs , including inventory accuracy, fulfillment rates, order cycle times, and vendor performance .


5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership

  • Lead and manage a team responsible for inventory and logistics operations , providing guidance and development opportunities.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service to align inventory availability with business demands.
  • Collaborate with Finance to monitor operational budgets and cost efficiencies in procurement and logistics.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in inventory management .


Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in inventory management, purchasing, or operations within e-commerce, beauty, or consumer goods industries.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Expertise in ERP/MRP systems and inventory management software (e.g., InfoPlus, Shopify, Luminous ).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in forecasting and demand planning .
  • Excellent leadership abilities with experience managing teams and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and data visualization tools .
  • Knowledge of import/export processes, customs clearance, and supplier negotiations .
